Cycling in Brisbane Australia
It's normal for parents to be proud of their kids - I know.
This week was pretty much up there in the proud stakes. Cycling was increased significantly thanks to the school holidays, not only did we get the usual weekend laps of the crit track, but Master 5 is now Master 6 and he rode there and back with his dad! All up he did about 16kms on his new road bike, not the furthest he's ridden but lots of busy roads and traffic, v. cool! Miss just turned 4 only managed 9kms, but she climbed those hills like she was waiting for Andy's chain to fall off ;)
For the rest of the week bikes were our preferred mode of transport to the park, the movies and today to school/day care. The kids did their first real commute, school bags and all. It helped that we had two adults with the two kids but it was still awesome. About 7kms mostly on road and during peak hour - kids listening, staying to the left, Miles even making calls 'car back!' lol. Tilly was very pretty slow and it took about an hour and a half all up to do 'pick up' BUT how many 4yr olds cycle commute to day care? Pretty damn awesome. Pretty damn proud.
Next steps - Tilly selected and wore a gorgeous cycle chic outfit but now needs a mudguard to protect her super cute skirt, and next time if we avoid having inclement weather then perhaps we can do without the pink rain jacket :)
Love riding with kids!

Miles did day 2 of the school run today, with Sam in the morning and me in the afternoon. Going to try for every day that I'm working at home at least.
It's somewhat quicker not having to wait for the little one, but she does add the super cuteness to the whole affair :)
