Commuter Advice = Redcliffe to the Valley

Hi All!!

I'm moving to Redcliffe soon and would like to explore the notion of riding to the Valley from Redcliffe

I commute only to work - not a road rider on weekend etc

Is anyone able to advise how long it might take and if it's safe to ride along the wetlands etc early in the mornings or when it gets dark in the winter...any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I'd think it would be safe enough from a personal perspective.

It's quite a long way though. It depends where in BNE you'd be finishing, and where in Redcliffe you start. If you would like to go through the wetlands I'd be working on somewhere around 1.5 hours each way.

Perhaps you could consider a hybrid commute. Like riding to Sandgate station and training from there - or riding one way per day (Ie in and catch the train home, and then the next day train in and bike home).

I commuted Redcliffe to Pinkenba for a few years, no troubles with the Boondall Wetlands or Jim Soorely bikeway - I was going through there pre-dawn in winter.  Not a lot of cycle traffic through there on weekdays...

Far more pleasant than driving via the Gateway.  I miss it!

Try this, best I can do without specific streets to start and end with.

From Toombul to Bowen Hills is part of my normal route, and there's no massive issues, just jump the footpaths from Bowen Hills into Fortitude Valley itself as the roads from Bowen Park in aren't cycle friendly.
