I bought my recumbent to tour on. The basic models you can buy in a shop are usually racers to cater for competitive riders or commuter models that appeal to urban riders. I had to make lots of…Continue

Steintrikes Wild Wave

I found this awesome articulated trike on YouTube and I posted it on my Google+. I am not linked to anyone from this blog on Facebook or Google and I wanted to post a link here but I don't know how. I figured that if I put the name up you could check it out on YouTube yourself. What I found interesting is the engineering enables the trike rider to lean as if he is in a bicycle as the trike turns. Could some of you trike riders check it out and tell me what you think please.

Cycle camping trip from Virginia to Lake Moogerah

I did the trip to a Lake Moogerah last Saturday. I learned a few useful things. Bikes and trailers are allowed on trains in non peak hour. They like you to use the wheel chair allocations preferably at the front or rear of the train. Firstly I had to negotiate the Railway Lift System at Virginia because the city bound trains arrive on Platform 1 and I live on the other side of the tracks. I had the forethought to have a practice run on Friday arvo to make sure I could get the bike and trailer… Continue

Weekend Tour

I planned a ride from Rosewood to Moogera Dam and the weather this weekend appears to be perfect. I googled a bike route and it showed me two roads tha go from Rosewood to Aratula which is quite near Moogera. Ive decided to take one road there on Saturday, camp overnight then ride back along the other on Sunday.

I've dodged the difficulty of crossing Brisbane with my bike and trailer by opting to take the train from Virginia to Ipswich then a second from Ipswich to Rosewood. I practiced… Continue

My First Pushies

What a great day! Thanks everybody from this community who participated last Sunday, particularly Terry and Melvin who made sure I arrived via the labarynthine cycle tracks from Virginia to a Holland Park. I made a rod for my back by deciding to bring my complement of touring gear to show off and I'm glad I did despite the extra effort I had to make to keep up with Terry's HPV for 22km. I was very surprised by the interest I created with visitors and participants alike. Maybe I have inspired… Continue
