The Rise of Uber and Lyft - safer for cyclists in the long term

Uber - Lyft definitely has made an impact on the declining Taxi industry as we know it. (A surcharge from Uber going to the Taxi companies to recoup there losses)

I am not sure for certain but would assume these service companies having vehicles on the road driven by there owners is a plus for cyclists, and because of the ratings system the good drivers are rated and a standard is maintained unlike the Taxi industry with very low standards.
