"I have a 36v setup on 2 electric bikes-bought originally as kits from China. it is now 3y/o plus and having a few problems-which after much fiddling around I have managed to overcome.
Two BMS have died over the years and I recently replaced a…"
"Just finished a bit of a tour on the Ebike and I couldn't agree more. I'll always take more battery that I need in case. T
I have 2x 48v 10ah batteries on the bike, each one will take me between 35 and 40 kms depending on terrain etc. I…"
"Most days I commute 6km each way on a 20" folder with no pedalling gears, a 15Ah battery, and a geared hub motor in the rear wheel. This affects the efficiency as the bike has a lot of torque but due to the lack of gears and not being able to…"
"I personally suspect that the ranges claimed by the retailers of electric bikes are frequently inflated. In my case I can ride from Redcliffe to Fortitude Valley with my 36V battery. When I arrive my 2 amp charger takes around 6 ½ hours to…"
"I have 9 amp/ hr on mine. I can go from McDowall to Nudgee beach via Kedron Brook bikeways and back along the Downfall Creek bike way which is about 40kms. I have ridden with a flat battery and would not recommend it. It was hard work
"I have a 48v 10ah battery on mine. I ride from Lutwyche to Woolloongabba and back every day, a round trip of about 23k. The battery meter doesn't budge from it's full setting. I've not tried to see how far I can get yet but as…"
"I've got what I think is a18ah battery on my ebike. I also have a spare. When I used to ride it to work 18 months ago I always charged it at home and at work. My commute was about 17.5k's and I never ran out of charge.
On Sunday just gone…"
I have recently fitted my single-speed eBike with a 36v 25 AmpHr LiFePO4 battery. Possibly somewhat over the top but on my first commute I found my normal route through the Boondall Wetlands I found that it was blocked for a controlled burn. With almost a KwHr of battery I was able to take a longer route and still arrive home with charge to spare.I know that batteries are expensive but I now feel that fitting one only just large enough is false economy and unnecessarily limits the bike. Just letting you know that from around late 2012 I have ensured that Beyond Oil bikes have high quality spokes fitted on both wheels. The previous standard spokes were subject to corrosion after about one year when housed near the ocean.…"
Thank you for your comments – they are all appreciated.
I haven’t made any decisions on what I’ll do. The issue of breaking spokes would be annoying but re-spoking a wheel is not particularly expensive. The issue…"
"Last post re Beyond Oil spot on.After numerous broken spokes fitted new rim with better quality spokes .Also Zoom disc brakes failed .Now have Vbrakes front and back. Not as effective but cheaper to maintain.
Bottom bracket failed within a…"
"A little late to the discussion, but hopefully this still helps.
My partner bought a Beyond Oil city-mountain bike, (despite my gentle nudging to get a Gazelle) mainly because it's what he could afford at the time and that it has a low mounted…"
"Hi Hamster, I've owned a beyond-oil ebike for 1.5 years now, I take mine to Electro-bikes in Woolloongabba, highly recommended and has spare parts readily available for these bikes.
I ride to work each day (100km a week) and also rode from…"
"I have had no problems with the folder I have from Beyond Oil but have only used it a couple of times but no problems with it. The other bike I have is a Nope but they are no longer around. Electro bikes at south brisbane repair most brands. Hope…"
