Well I have a couple.

My Giant TCR for when I'm doing the roadie thing.
A Masi Speciale Fixed which has been my commuter for a while, working up to it being my full time commuter here.
And a Bianchi Volpe Cross bike with a rack and kiddie seat on the back for shopping and family rides.
About Me :
Yet another ex-pat Sydneysider coming to Brisbane. I needed a change of scenery and my work presented an opportunity to travel.

I am the creator of www.sydneycyclist.com and co-creator of www.melbournecyclist.com and due to popular demand I'm doing the same thing here.

I'm an IT Consultant by day, mad cyclist of course, father of two and a musician.

Yes Andrew that's it.  Here's a link.   I think that is the problem exactly: cyclists run the risk of toppling over the wall if there's an altercation with traffic.  The problem is that you can't just go round the…

I think I read the same article Aaron (Bayside Star or Northside Chronicle) one of them mentioned that the closure was because of the concrete barrier only being around 800mm high.   My thought on the hight issue was that if a cyclist had to…

According to a story in the local paper, TMR closed it to cyclists in response to complaints from cyclists about the dangers of the concrete wall on the actual overpass.  The story didn't indicate the lane changes leading to it were a…

Do you know why the overpass was closed? While I can imagine some awkwardness getting on to the overpass in peak traffic times when travelling south, at all other times it doesn't seem like an unreasonably risky place to ride - if everyone…

Hi Andrew, I'm in Bracken Ridge and have tried numerous routes in to the city. Like you, I'm happy with a less direct route if it means I'm avoiding traffic. From Deagon you could go through the Boondall Wetlands, ride along…

Forgot to mention from Herston there's a bike route through to Roma St parklands, then you can go across to the Kurilpa Bridge, but you probably already know that.   I ride from the Downfall Ck bike path thropugh to Roma Street most…

cycling along Sandgate Rd has recently been prohibited on the overpass at Virginia, reportedly for safety reasons.  So if you go that way you'll need to turn into Toombul Rd then either double back or keep going up to Melton Rd…

New Years Day Ride

Posted on January 2, 2012 at 10:00am 2 Comments

So how was your New Years Day ride ?

The sensible thing to do of course is getting out the door early in the morning to get a good ride in before it gets hot and the wind picks up.

When was I ever sensible though ?

I spent the morning with the kids, taking them to the park (on bikes of course) and bumming around the house eating my way through the lovely ham we bought for Christmas. At about 1 I got on the bike to go for a…

Springbrook!

Hey all

I've been a little absent here this month, my day job is keeping me busy as usual and this time of year is incredibly hectic for one of my "side jobs" which is running the website for this little event. Things on that front looked to be pretty stable on Tuesday night, so when Nick in his ever so subtle way suggested that we go…

Bike maintenance day!

Posted on August 13, 2011 at 10:00pm 0 Comments

It's been a fun day...

I had a couple of boxes on bike bits sitting around the house that arrived early this week from a wiggly establishment somewhere overseas.

What better way to spend a nice sunny winters day but fixing bikes!

First up is my roadie, needed a new freehub body which meant a cleaning and repacking the hubs. It also was due for a new chain. All done! It's shifting and rolling so much better now.

Second one, and the…

Training update (pt 2)

Posted on April 26, 2011 at 9:31pm 1 Comment

Time for a training update.

Last week was mostly successful in my daily training, a couple of days where the warm bed was too tempting over the cold rain outside. Need some improvement.

On Wednesday night I went to a Bikram yoga session. I used to practice Yoga a few years ago when I first started racing and I found it really helped my riding. I've not done it in a long time, and doing the 90 minute class in a hot room was quite a shock. Still, it had the…

Hi Damian

The Merida reacto is a beautiful bike super stiff and fast.  It's my very first road bike that I owned, and despite being 49 years young, I took it back home to the Pyrenees in France this year and climbed 3 majors mountains . No worries at all!! On the flat terrain it is very quick. I found this bike performed extremely well, and yes - i would recommend to anyone.

Hey Damo.... is it possible to tweak the back-end cod for the site so that links etc posted in an article open in a new tab/window by default?? Would make navigating the site a little more user-friendly..

Cheers
