"Hi Terry,  I have been off the bike for a bit (non-cycling related injury) but am back on now.   From the Aspley Hypermarket, best route I have settled on is pretty much as suggested by Aaron above.  Down little cabbage tree creek…"

"There is also a route (just footpathspaths and quiet side streets) that takes you from Aspley along the western side of Gympie Rd along Kildonan and Kurango Streets down to  Milburn Rd, where you can then follow the bike path down…"

"I don't know whether this will help, but the following texts and video (relatively) recently helped me learn to enjoy hills quite a lot more (but only away from busy traffic!) so hopefully it might also work for you, should you find no…"

"Thanks Aaron, I have followed that path through to Hamilton Road and up to Old Trouts Road.  Not sure how it rates with speed against the suggested route above, which I am yet to try.  I am averaging about an hour from just short of the…"

"Hi Brook. There is a quiet bike route along Little Cabbage Tree Creek to Trouts Rd. You could then follow Trouts Rd (which is hilly but not too busy) through to Stafford Rd, and cut across to the the Kedron Brook bikeway. This may be a bit quicker."

"You can still use the OpenStreetMap data elsewhere though (eg. maps.cloudmade.com) and Ride the City. It's just the overlays on the Nearmap aerial photography that is going to change."

"Back to the original question. Yes you're quite correct in that; there is a definite lack of good bike paths (North-South) that are connected going into the city. It seems to me the northside is a poor cousin when it comes to cycling…"

"That 'reasonable job' is actually the work of crowd-sourcing using the Open Street Map database (the 'wikipedia of maps') to which I contribute. Nearmap is changing their database soon to allow address searching. They are going…"

"Have a look at www.nearmap.com, they have done a reasonable job of marking cycle & pedestrian paths  if you tick "street map" under PhotoMap."

"Roma St to the Bicentennial Bikeway is still unfortunately likely to be easiest via Herschel St (it is however all downhill), with a right turn onto a (not smooth) driveway ramp and then a bit of footpathing up to the pedestrian crossing. Paul…"
