Decided today to see how the folding Giant stacked up against the other bikes I commute on, so, later than usual, I loaded up the little Giant and off down the road I went. Pretty much the first…Continue

Comment by Kerry Blue on May 17, 2012 at 8:26am Go ahead, buy the titanium Brompton! I have a p6r (one of a pair we purchased) and I'll rave about it to anyone who'll listen! I wanted the flexibility to tour as well as take it anywhere on new rides so went for the bigger gear range...and LOVE it! I borrowed a standard Brompton in Byron Bay to compare with mine and the difference is marked. An early Chrissie present to yourself?
Comment by Kerry Blue on May 17, 2012 at 5:06am My two Bromptons wouldn't go anywhere other than Epic Cycles for service and parts.
Comment by Mark Green on May 16, 2012 at 9:57pm hi - Mark here - new to the small but special Folder Group!
I ride a Brompton 6S in fast black! After continuing gear change problems, this evening I've decided I need to service my bike. Not really been done in the 5 or so years I've owned it - poor thing!
Any recommendations on where to get my Brompton serviced in central or south Brisbane? Need new cables all round and probably a hub gear change lever. Might get the hub gears serviced for good measure.
Apart from being a bit grubby its done well over the years. I've changed a few things like fitting a sharper seat, SPD pedals, bar ends and slick tyres (Kojaks). Recommend the slick tyres - helps it fly!
See you around?
Mark
Comment by Mick Fanning on March 10, 2012 at 9:28am That bike with the leather saddle and drop handle bars mentioned by Paul would most likely have been a Moulton. They are often mistaken for folders.
I know..risk of boring...but latest fold demo at hairdresser resulting in raptuous (sp?) applause. It's so challenging having to ride off after said event with helmet messing up $100 worth of pruduct!
Comment by Doc Embrey on January 28, 2012 at 9:21am I don't see a place to put events in a group so I'll post it here. During Bike Week (10-18 March) the Brisbane Bicycle Touring Association (BBTA) are joining in the unrestrained celebrations by organising a small wheel tour of things historical and monumental in Brisbane. Anyone audacious enough to even contemplate such an event certainly has my full attention, and others interested should note the following
Monumental Small Wheels Tour: Bike Week 2012-17th March.
Do you own a small (20'') wheel bike or trike? Then come along for a Saturday afternoon tour of some of Brisbane's more interesting monuments. The tour begins and ends at the Toowong Park and ride. There'll be 30 kms to ride, with breaks along the way to explore the monuments, and a coffee stop for the inner rider.See up-coming February- March "Cycling Times" and Ride Calendar for more information . Or ,if you intend to come on this ride, please email Stephen Jackson at smallwheelsride@bbta.org.
You can go on a few BBTA rides without joining , though I woud encourage anyone to be a member of the BBTA, as the $30 membership is well worth the money (and even gets you discounts at some bike shops).
New Brompton in the house as of last week. Now have bike envy, as new one is british racing green with leather saddle! Heavier than mine however..small compensation
Comment by Paul Stockwell on January 24, 2012 at 8:32pm I saw the most awesome folder the other day out at Jacob's well, wish I'd taken a photo but I didn't want to embarrass the older gentleman who owned it.
It had drop bars on it and a racing saddle, and he was having brekkie with two other older gentlemen with normal roadies. All three were in lycra and were obviously having a great time.
