I've heard in the past that weather affects violent crime. The theory is that as weather gets hot, people get cranky and become violent. Then, when the temperature gets too hot, violent crime drops to hardly anything because it's too hot to do anything.

But I can't imagine that a warmish spell in mid-winter could trigger any of that.
