Does anyone know about courses held for basic maintenance of your bike?

They start with basic stuff like changing a tyre but move on to adjusting the cones in your wheel hubs, etc. You are encouraged to take your own bike along and do the work on it. But if for some reason you don't want to do a task on your own bike there is usually plenty of parts around to practice on.
When we did it it was at Yeeronga TAFE but now I think it is done at Bracken Ridge.

...and buy a good book or two (eg. Park Tool Big Blue Book) or borrow them from your local library.
Honestly, anyone can do it and it is tremendously satisfying. Depending on the bike and what you plan to do with it will require different tools but the investment is worth it.
