That's the difference.... on a site like that you aren't just asking existing cyclists that aren't deterred by helmet laws.
So many people's health is riding on this... all good.

Interesting how the question posed is opposite to the poll title:
Title: Compulsory Helmets for Cyclists.
Question: Would repealing law [sic] forcing cyclists to wear helmets get more people to ride bicycles?
So to support mandatory helmet laws, you have to vote 'no' to 'compuslory helmets for cyclists' and vice versa.

Yep, best way to get the result you want is to try to confuse people who would otherwise vote against it.

Posted stuff about this on my Facebook and had some pretty stinging debate.
Someone always "knows someone" who had an accident and was saved by a helmet so they think mandatory helmet laws are awesome. Yet they ignore the scenario where you're simply riding around at a park or on a bike path at no speed, with no dangerous obstacles, no roads to deal with and the likelihood of a crash is minimal.
And when you try and say a bike vs truck accident is unlikely to have a happy ending with or without a helmet, they claim they "know someone" who was hit by a car/truck on their bike and the helmet saved them.
I think it's a hard battle to win, and dare I say impossible?

LOL, yes it's that mentality.
Of course the discussion then deteriorated into a "cyclists shouldn't use the road unless they pay rego" and "cyclists should have to obey the road rules" and "cyclists think they own the road" etc. So it became pointless pretty quick.

You're know you're winning when they change the topic and start illogical arguments!
We've done 3 radio interviews in the past 2 days and we have a few more lined up today & tomorrow. I'm on 2GB in Sydney (Alan Jones... shudder) later this afternoon and Luke will be on Brisbane's 4ZZZ sometime tomorrow.
It's about choice. The fact that merely 'straddling' your bicycle without a helmet shows how absurd it is, yet pedicab passengers (but not their riders) are exempt!
I was in Kona recently for the Ironman World Championships and it was refreshing to see these super-athletes exercising choice. When out doing checks of the course or tweaking their bikes some had helmets, some did not. When they were using their bikes to travel around the village of Kona, most didn't wear helmets - plenty were riding beach cruiser bikes too! Only during the competition did they wear their helmets, and they probably would have even if the rules didn't mandate it.
Why do we have to treat all cycling in Australia as though it was a competitive event? It's a broad church...
