Cycling in Brisbane Australia
PLEASE! if you know somebody is riding behind you (even if you don't, cos there could be someone) and you pass something on the road that looks like this, point it out to the rider behind. And if you see something in front of you that closely, or even vaguely, resembles this, don't just roll over it and hope for the best. I have 40 years experience of riding a bike , and now, a broken back, thanks to this seemingly innocent little chunk of rock.

I make it a habit of stopping and getting anything nearthis size off the path or road if it is likely to catch a cyclist. Sorry to hear of your misfortune Pedro, I hope you recover as best as you are able with such a serious injury as that.

Permalink Reply by Paul Martin on January 12, 2012 at 9:00am Actually... what I do is stop and remove it from the path/road. It annoys me when people just point/yell at objects like this without doing anything about it. Sorry to hear that this resulted in an accident.
Potholes & immovable obstructions are different.
So my advice: if you see something like this on the path, stop and get it off the path. It will only cost you a few seconds and you can always pause your cycle computer if you're concerned it will ruin your data. You may well prevent a rider behind you from suffering like Pedro.
